Integrations
Figshare and Research Space are pleased to announce an integration of the RSpace electronic lab notebook with Figshare. This integration, described in the following brief video, enables researchers to deposit datasets directly from RSpace into Figshare.
By enabling capture of lab data electronically in the RSpace ELN, and providing a simple deposit interface to Figshare, the integration facilitates two workflows emerging as critical in the new digital research environment.
The first is the seamless transfer of active research data into a data repository or archive for public access and long term preservation.
The second is the deposit of datasets related to research into a data repository for association with the publication reporting on the results of the research.
The RSpace – Figshare integration supports both workflows, demonstrating the commitment of Figshare and Research Space to a connected approach to dealing with research data, and the integration of Figshare and RSpace with other tools and systems used by researchers and the emerging research data infrastructure being adopted by universities and publishers. The depositor’s ORCID id is automatically associated with the dataset exported from RSpace into Figshare, further supporting linkage between researchers and their research output, as encouraged by leading funders, research institutions and publishers.

RSpace Transitions to Open-Source Chemistry ToolsOpen source
RSpace has transitioned to open-source chemistry tools in version 1.108, replacing Marvin with Ketcher for molecule rendering and integrating OpenBabel and Indigo for backend chemistry data management, ensuring full functionality and backward compatibility for users. This change aligns with RSpace's commitment to open-source principles, enabling more flexible development and potential community contributions to chemistry functionality. Users will experience a seamless update with all existing features preserved, including ChemDraw support and existing chemical structure compatibility. The ResearchSpace team is looking forward to expanding chemistry tools, with potential future improvements like advanced chemical calculations, database integrations, and enhanced data export capabilities. Customers can find the new tools active immediately in the latest release, with the team welcoming user feedback and suggestions for future developments.
