Blue Uni

Researchers need tools that enable effective capture, management and sharing of research data. These tools, moreover, must integrate with data storage platforms/applications, other research tools, from enterprise chat to domain-specific tools like protocols.io, and data repositories. RSpace, the Connected electronic notebook, is the only ELN designed to fit seamlessly into the research data infrastructure at modern research-driven universities.

Blue Rocket

As an early stage biotech you need to make rapid progress towards your next milestone.
You also need to capture and organize your research data to lay the foundation for longer
term IP protection and effective presentation of results to collaborators and investors. These needn’t be conflicting objectives: RSpace can help with both!

What we offer

A tool that fits researcher workflows

Do researchers need modern tools like electronic lab notebooks to boost their productivity and capture and share data more effectively? Yes! Will they adopt an ELN if it doesn’t fit snugly into their existing workflow and inter-operate with other tools they are using? No! That’s why RSpace is designed to support researchers’ existing workflows, not make them adopt new ones. It’s easy for new users to get started by importing protocols and other documents in Word and having them automatically convert to fully editable RSpace documents with all the formatting maintained.

And, RSpace integrates with generic tools like Slack and MS Teams, and specialist scientific tools like protocols.io. That’s why we call it the Connected ELN!

An integrated data solution for your institution and your researchers

Academic institutions aim to ensure the data their researchers produce is not only captured, but also properly managed and eventually made publicly available for others to view, query and re-use. This drives a need for an ELN that connects with other research tools and with other components of the research infrastructure. That’s why RSpace enables linking to OneDrive, Google Drive, Box, Dropbox and to institutional and lab data storage resources. And it’s why RSpace is integrated with leading data repositories like DSpace, figshare and Dataverse.

RSpace, the Connected ELN, is not just another ELN, it’s another kind of ELN, the kind needed by institutions developing a research infrastructure meeting the needs of their researchers today, and tomorrow.

Unlimited classroom use at no extra charge

Some universities find that the best entry point for an ELN is in the classroom, or for undergraduates and MSc students doing project-based work. Integrations with Slack, Microsoft Teams and Google Hangouts chat enable RSpace to facilitate teacher-student communication and group projects, and make RSpace the perfect vehicle for documenting and recording student work.

Unlike other ELN providers, we provide unlimited classroom usage to universities at no extra charge, further enhancing the attraction of RSpace in the classroom.

A tool that helps you raise your next round of investment

We understand that time to milestone is what matters most to biotechs. Whether you’ve just spun out of a university or a pharma company, or have already raised a Series A, shaving a month off the time needed to meet your next milestone can make the difference between survival and biting the dust. RSpace is easy to get started with, and our flexible business model enables startups to use RSpace for as long as you like free of charge. Our world class support team responds quickly to your questions, so that you’re able to determine whether RSpace is right for you without wasting precious time.

RSpace grows with you. When team size and funding dictate a transition to a dedicated Enterprise instance, you can seamlessly transfer your data from RSpace Community.

A tool that streamlines collaboration between CROs and biotechs

Our groundbreaking integration with Egnyte (available in September 2018) enables streamlined CRO – biotech collaboration in way that’s never been possible before. RSpace files are stored in Egnyte folders. What does this mean? Say you’re a CRO that takes in sample compounds, analyses the compounds, and sends the results back to your biotech customers. No more emailing back and forth. Instead, when you’re finished with the analysis in RSpace, summarize the results in a pdf and simply upload it directly to the Egnyte folder to which both you and the customer have access. Even better, give your customers permission to view the RSpace folders where you’re documenting the analysis. They can comment using RSpace messaging and/or set up a Slack channel and use the RSpace-Slack integration for discussion about the work.

RSpace + Egnyte becomes a single, joined up space for documenting your work for customers, communicating with them, and presenting results!

A tool the members of your team will actually use!

Biotech founder/CEOs readily see the benefits in adopting an ELN – better visibility over research in progress, a complete, defensible record of research for IP and compliance purposes, and a time-saving tool that can be used to streamline communication with CROs and collaborators. Those benefits might not seem compelling, however if you’re the one planning and implementing experiments. In that case you’re more likely to appreciate other things you get with RSpace, including the ability to work with other tools you’re already using, like Dropbox, One Drive, G Drive, Egnyte, Slack and MS Teams, the ability to transform Word docs into RSpace docs while maintaining formatting, and in built tools like PCR master mix and buffer calculator.

RSpace is the ELN that’s designed to meet the needs of everyone on the team!

Migrating from other ELNs to RSpace

Growing Demand

More and more labs are asking to transition to RSpace from other ELNs. We’ve done a
Benchling to RSpace converter so that’s easy!

Available from any ELN

We’ll be happy to help transfer data to RSpace from other ELNs, and from Evernote, One
Note and Google Docs!

Reliable and Responsive

“We have been collaborating with Research Space since 2012 and see the company as a reliable and responsive partner.

Many of our suggestions for improvements in RSpace were quickly introduced. We’ve found that RSpace is intuitive to use and easy to administer.

We believe that RSpace has a bright future because it was the first ELN to inter-operate with and add value to other components of a modern research data management infrastructure.”

Indispensable component

“I first encountered RSpace at the University of Geneva. When I moved to the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Biology, RSpace was a core component of the infrastructure I put in place for my new lab here.

Lab members found it easy to get started with RSpace, and it conveniently helps us to record, share and track our research data.

I can’t imagine running a lab without it!”

A Powerful Tool

“We have been very pleased with RSpace because it provides our team an excellent platform to log our research.

It is a powerful tool for team leaders to closely monitor work and easily retrieve data. It provides me as the head of R&D access to every corner of our programs.

Just as important as the product is the support we have received from Rob Day. He and his team are extremely responsive and have helped to solve technical issues and explain usage options in a timely way.”

Intuitive Interface

“I liked RSpace because it combines an intuitive interface with the ability to match our research workflows.

I was pleased when it passed muster with the rest of the team, and it’s proving useful as we progress through the lead optimization phase of our small molecule development program.

We’re planning to expand use of RSpace after our next round of investment — it’s an added plus that RSpace is an enterprise product with the security we need to scale as we grow.”
